I’ll try and think of something to help weaker units in early game.

That’s because the randomiser does not rely on what civilisation you are.
Even though map is all tech some civilisations will have stronger units compared to a civ with the exact same unit especially if you get their elite unit. (Even team bonus can come into effect)
Which I think adds to the gameplay.
Some times a “weaker” like skirmisher or halberdeir will be the best possible unit you can get.
I tried to balance the map with spawn times and pop limits but I think it will take a lot of games to get these numbers perfect.
Archers grow so fat with attack points they can’t be touched.
